Pisco Sours

Back in Miraflores on Sunday mornings, after the women put on their ironed dresses and shawls, locked arms and went gossiping to God — week-old sourness and pinched faces — their men lined the narrow street with kitchen chairs and made pisco confessions to a different god. By noon, everything, even forgiveness, was forgotten.
